ProgenitorsThe following is a detailed list of what I call "Rempel Progenitors": male Rempels born prior to the 1900s for whom I cannot determine a father. That is, they appear to be the "first of their line". They obviously have fathers, but the details regarding their fathers is unknown to me and so until I add more to the list or start collapsing these folks into the same lineage, they temporarily represent about 150 different Rempel lineages! I'm not finished with putting information about all the lines I know about on these pages yet - so you will find holes. Still - let me know where you see gaps and let's fill them together. This is a collective work in progress. Progenitor Pages:Why did I Bother with Putting this on the WWW?I am posting this listing for two reasons.
Who gets the Credit? With all apologies and contrary to my usual stance, I have not provided the primary sources associated with this table of data. They are the usual assortment: family records, churchbooks, vital records, LDS resources, e-mail queries, etc. The most elaborate source, of course, is the GRANDMA published by the California Mennonite Historical Society (available from Mennonite Historical Society of Alberta. The numbers that appear beneath persons' names on these pages are unique GRANDMA identification numbers. Can you Add my Rempel Progenitor?Of course! Anyone wishing to add a progenitor to the list and find out my source of information is welcome to send an e-mail to me with the specifics. And, be sure to visit other online resources dedicated to the Rempel name found on my homepage: Home |
